TEST PREP WORKSHOPS

Small 2- to 4-person classes designed for students who need guided practice over a longer period of time for the concepts to really sink in!

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 1-ON-1 AND WORKSHOPS?

The difference is comparable to that between a personal training session and a group workout class. Workshops are better suited to students who need practice, but with direction and guidance. Workshops are for students to work with some instruction. One-on-one tutoring is for students to be instructed with some work.

DO SOME STUDENTS DO BOTH 1-ON-1 AND WORKSHOPS?

Yes! There are many variations. Some students do only workshops. Some students start with workshops and end with one-on-one closer to the test. It really depends on the student.

HOW ARE WORKSHOPS STRUCTURED?

Workshops place 2-4 students with one dynamic, engaging instructor. Working from a set of problems assigned for that workshop, the instructor has a mix of approaches at their disposal. Students may jump right in with problem sets and the instructor will respond to their mistakes, or the instructor might introduce a concept and let the students complete sets independently. Regardless, the instructor is constantly coaching the students, monitoring how they navigate the problems, and giving them tips and tricks to attack the problem.

What are the benefits of workshops?

For some concepts, it’s important for students work on persistently and consistently for a chunk of time. Working on something for 30 minutes here or there isn’t helpful. Workshops allow students to really do a deep dive into concepts while helping them build mental stamina needed for the test.
