My experience so far with MeriEducation has been phenomenal. The tutors are preparing me for my SAT test and I really believe I am in the best hands possible. Without a doubt, I truly feel I am receiving the best help possible in order for me to succeed. My tutors are extremely encouraging and positive, and they never fail to make me feel like I can actually conquer this test. I am extremely fortunate to have found this place, and overall everyone in the Redlands location is always so friendly and positive.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Students will meet the instructor for a one- to two-hour session. During the session, the instructor will do one or more of the following:

  • teach from the MeriEducation test prep lesson books using methods specifically tailored to the student

  • review the student’s most challenging homework problems

  • review the student’s most recent practice test and target the problem areas

  • assign homework that is specific to the student’s strengths, weaknesses, and workload capacity

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ONE-ON-ONE TUTORING?

Instead of catering to a group of students with different strengths and weaknesses, each lesson is tailored to a specific student. Also, students can customize their schedules more easily with one-on-one tutoring compared with committing to a fixed, rigid schedule. One-on-one tutoring is great for busy students involved in sports, theatre, mock trial, and other time-consuming (but cool!) endeavors. One-on-one students also receive session update forms after EVERY session detailing what they did!

WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED?

We created our own curriculum for test prep—it’s nearly 1,000 pages! This curriculum has been fine-tuned over the last decade. For timed practice (we call it “pacing”), students use simulated problems from third-party providers. Learn more about our curriculum.

WHEN THE CLASSROOM SIZE IS ONE…

Students can ask questions as they please, move at the pace that they want, and receive targeted, individualized tutoring.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD A STUDENT COME IN?

Students normally come in for 2-4 hours a week and for 14 to 16 weeks. However, there are students who come in less and those who come in more. Did we mention we customize everything?

Students normally have two tutors, one for verbal/reading/writing and one for math/science. Our tutors have to score at least in the 98th percentile before they can teach. Want to meet our tutors? Click here.

HOW MUCH IS IT?

We have three main tiers of tutors and rates start at $58.50 for 45 minutes. Please note, materials are NOT included in this price.
